Slip On Flange
Description
Slip On Flange is widely used in industrial piping systems where easy alignment, installation efficiency and cost control are important considerations. The flange is slipped over the pipe and fillet welded on both inside and outside, providing adequate strength for low and medium pressure piping systems.
Slip on flanges are commonly used in petrochemical plants, water treatment facilities, offshore platforms, power plants and general industrial piping systems. Compared with weld neck flanges, slip on flanges are easier to install and align during site erection, which helps reduce installation time and labor cost in large piping projects.
In many EPC projects, slip on flanges are supplied together with stainless steel pipes and fittings as part of a complete piping material package.
Specifications / Standards
Slip On Flanges are manufactured in accordance with international piping flange standards and project specifications. The manufacturing, dimensional tolerances and pressure ratings are strictly controlled according to applicable standards.
Common standards include:
• ASME B16.5
• ASME B16.47 Series A / Series B
• EN 1092-1
• DIN 2576 / DIN 2642
• ISO 7005
• MSS SP-44
• API 605
Inspection and certification can be supplied according to EN 10204 3.1 or EN 10204 3.2 with third-party inspection such as SGS, BV or TÜV if required by project specifications.
Slip on flanges are frequently supplied together with butt weld pipe fittings and pipes for complete piping system procurement.

Material selection depends on operating temperature, pressure, corrosion environment and project specifications from EPC contractors or end users.
Size Range
Slip On Flange size range typically includes:
• Size: 1/2” to 80”
• Pressure Rating: Class 150 / 300 / 600 / 900 / 1500 / 2500
• Facing Type: Raised Face (RF), Flat Face (FF), Ring Type Joint (RTJ)
• Suitable for various pipe wall thickness and schedules
Large diameter flanges for offshore, LNG, desalination and power plant projects can be manufactured according to project drawings and technical specifications.
Manufacturing Process
Slip On Flanges are manufactured from forged materials or rolled rings depending on size, material grade and project requirements.
Typical manufacturing process includes:
• Raw material inspection
• Cutting and forging or ring rolling
• Heat treatment
• Rough machining
• Finish machining
• Drilling
• Marking and traceability control
• Final dimensional inspection
For project supply, flanges are often supplied together with prefabrication pipe spools and piping components to reduce site welding workload and installation time.
Inspection & Testing
Inspection and testing are performed according to project specifications and international standards.
Typical inspection and testing include:
• Visual inspection
• Dimensional inspection
• PMI (Positive Material Identification)
• Mechanical testing
• Hardness testing
• NDT testing (UT / RT / PT / MT if required)
• Third-party inspection
• EN 10204 3.1 / 3.2 certification
Full material traceability can be maintained from raw material heat number to final flange marking and documentation package.
Applications / Industries
Slip On Flanges are widely used in industrial piping systems across many industries:
• Oil & Gas
• Petrochemical Plants
• LNG Projects
• Offshore Platforms / FPSO
• Power Plants
